mXDriver 16.11.5. for all 64-Bit platforms since Windows 7

mXDriver 16.11.5 is based on AMD’s Radeon Crimson 16.11.5  and brings the usual optimizations from AMD (newly supported games and bugfixes). On my dual D700’s with Windows 10 64-Bit it’s working flawlessly. Vulkan support is also included and gives Doom a big fps boost. Please note: Newer versions of the Vulkan API (1.0.26+) don’t work with the Vulkan Stardust Demo although other applications like Doom work great in Vulkan mode.

If you have troubles running a Vulkan application, which ran with mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded (Vulkan API 1.0.21), than it should be sufficient if you replace amdvlk64.dll in C:\Windows\System32 with an older version. mXDriver 16.11.5 comes with version 1.0.26 of amdvlk64.dll, to get version 1.0.21 of amdvlk64.dll you can just use the file from mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded. The file is located in the ZIP-Archive under Packages/Drivers/Display/WT6A_INF/B******/ (the * are placeholders for a sequence numbers which change with every release). If this advice does not help you please let me know in the comments section.

This version of mXDriver features Windows 8.1 (64-Bit) and Windows 7 (64-Bit) support (very experimental), as it was requested by the community. I don’t have a system to test the Windows 8.1 / Windows 7 mXDriver, so please give feedback. mXDriver 16.11.5 for Windows 7 DOES NOT SUPPORT Radeon M370X, M380, M390X, M395 and M395X.

For a more detailed look into the changes of 16.11.5 please see the changelog.

  1. Thank you so much for the Windows 7 version. But I have an error saying that Windows cannot verify the certificate even though I have installed it correctly as instructed in your readme.txt. I am using a late 2014 iMac 5K AMD R9 M290x. Does anyone else has this problem? Thanks.

  2. First of all thanks for your work, but i have an Imac 21.5 mid 201, i know it doesn’t appear on the supported devices, but it has the same graphic card as the macbook pro (6750M). The problem is that the driver is not displayed as an option, so i can’t install it.

    • Your Macbook Pro uses an older architecture which is no longer supported by AMD and does not work with driver versions newer than Crimson 16.2 beta because only newer architecture is supported with 16.2 (non-beta) and later.

  3. Found a fix for opencl with this driver:

    Navigate to Windows\System32\ folder

    find file OpenCLdll

right click, click on properties of file.

At bottom of properties window it will show – Caution, the file is locked, unlock the file and press ok. opencl is working now

  4. I have a Mac Pro with the AMD FirePro D700 and after installing this driver I got problems restarting, the computer freezes while the Windows menu tells it is restarting, the little circle freezes and sometimes, after a while, restarts, like a kernel restart… any suggestion?

  5. thanks so much for the drivers Joe! after the installation, all what is gpu related works much better! but now im missing Catalyst Control Center… is this normal? i follow the README instructions, but in some point the system just restart… i didnt reach the point 6a and not able to do point 6b… after the automatic restart, i check device manager and your driver is working… but no CCC..

it is normal that GPU-Z reports one of the GPU always at 99% of load ?
with always i mean with no applications running, only gpu-z

    im in a MacPro d700 win10 home 64bit

    thanks!
