mXDriver 17.5.1

mXDriver 17.5.1 is based on AMD’s Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.5.1 and brings the usual optimizations from AMD (newly supported games and bugfixes) as well as support for Prey®. Vulkan support is also included and gives Doom a big fps boost. Please note: Newer versions of the Vulkan API (1.0.26+) don’t work with the Vulkan Stardust Demo although other applications like Doom work great in Vulkan mode.

If you have trouble running a Vulkan application, which ran with mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded (Vulkan API 1.0.21) or other older drivers please see the FAQ for help.

For a more detailed look into the changes of 17.5.1 please see the changelog.

  1. Use 17.5.1 last night for 3 hours with CoD Infinity Warfare with Bootcamp Works perfectly. Mac Pro (2013) AMD D300s. Many thanks, Joe.

  2. Hi patrick, I believe so. I’m running Windows 10 in Bootcamp and I think it is automatic unlike earlier versions of Windows. Anyway, with the D300s I’m generally getting 91 FPS in play but it slows at times depending on map and number of players to the high 60’s. There are, however, players with rigs that seem to run circles around and above me. 🙂

  3. Are the extended driver settings shown? Up to know i didn’t get it to work under Windows10.

  4. mega has stopped the service, can send Driver Files to other server?

  5. Macopro with 16GB ram, D500, windows 10 Anniversary edition, using the uninstall/install display driver as mentioned in this site, tried this latest build driver, crossfire enabled in amd profile, whatever playing The Division or Battlefield 1, the fps would go up around 50fps, but will keep dropping to 15 or even lower fps after around 15mins of game.

Would anyone know any way to make crossfile really workable in game…..thanks.

    • I have the same problem. But on D700. I tried to change the dirext settings, but nothing happend. Usually ultra settings with dx12 and 2560×1440 res is fine, like a locked 60fps, but sometimes will dropping to 15 or even lower. Also some glitches, someting like yellow filter, but i think its BF1 fault.

  6. Hi, thanks for the great drivers but unfortunately BattlEye seems to want to block the dll since updating (playing Player Unkown Battlegrounds thru Steam). I was previously using 17.3.1 fine. Used DDU to uninstall, reinstalled the certificate and restarted after installing this version. Will incrementally downgrade and hope it fixes, but would be good to see if this is my issue or an issue with the new driver. Other games not using BEye seemed fine.

    • Forgot to specify the exact log in BEye is:
      09:28:32: Starting BattlEye Service…
      09:28:43: Launching game…
09:28:56: Note: File blocks can be ignored if they don’t cause problems with the game.
09:28:56: [INFO] Blocked loading of file: “C:\Windows\System32\aticfx64.dll”.

And then the game seems to fail loading “DX11 feature level 10.0 required to run the engine.” which I presume is because my driver is being blocked.

      Fangs.

    • I am not sure what the problem is but as it seems 17.5.1 makes several problems. I don’t think it’s because of the driver modification it seems like Radeon Crimson 17.5.1 isn’t the most stable release from AMD.
If a newer release is upped by AMD I will update mXDriver.

      • Thanks for the speedy reply, sorry it didn’t notify me. I will try your new driver that just got upped and report back, although I understand it’s probably nothing to do with your changes.

  7. I had an issue with these on my Mac Pro (2013) with D700 cards – every time I booted back into MacOS after using Boot Camp, MacOS would give me a “your system has restarted after an error” message, as though it had rebooted after a kernel panic, when no kernel panic had ever actually happened. A kernel panic log would be generated as well.

Anyone experienced the same thing or have any suggestion on how to fix?

Windows 10 Pro x64 (Creators Update)
    Sierra 10.12.4

    • Hey mustgroove. I get the same thing for 17.5.1. I also got it with 17.3.1. Never had the chance to try 17.4.4. It happens whether I shut down or restart from the desktop. However, it works fine when I restart after installing an update to the Windows 10 Anniversary version. I thought it had something to do with OWC’s software allowing Bootcamp on their 1GB SSD blade.

      • Radeon Crimson 17.5.1 seems to be a bit buggy please wait for a newer release from AMD. If I get my hands on 17.5.1+ I will release the according mXDriver asap.

      • More. I’ve been trying several ways to quit Windows 10 or restart in macOS. If I use the Boot Camp popup to select Restart in Mac OS X, it seems to always restart w/o the crash.

    • hey!
I had this problem as well but fixed it by disabling crossfire in general settings.
also, my mac pro (d700s) took a very long time to shut down, wirh crossfire disabled this is also fixed.

      • I tried out the bootcampdrivers.com Mac Pro driver and it eliminates this issue completely (and I *think* I’m also getting slightly better Doom performance with Vulkan too)

        • Same experience as mustgrove. I tried the last three latest drivers (5.1, 4.4, 3.1) using DDU to remove each one before upgrading and all of them loaded back into macOS with an error (and the settings screen clipped by the status bar). Using the drivers from Bootcampdrivers does not have this issue, which means it’s something to do with the repackaging and not AMD driver related.

  8. Hi all, pleace help me to download these drivers. I live in Kazakhstan and can not download these drivers from your exchanger(mena). Here is my mail to the [email protected]. Download to Google disk or through another exchanger, please help me guys??? )))))many thanks

  9. I’m running the iMac 27″ 5k (late 2015) with the m395X (4GB) video card. Ever since I upgraded to these drivers I have to have hardware acceleration disabled in order for youtube videos to play. If I have it enabled, the video will never load and Chrome will crash/freeze. However, hardware acceleration helps tremendously with Google sheets (spreadsheets) and Google Slides rendering smoothly without stuttering when I shift between cells or slides, or moving things around. I did not have this problem on the previous version of the mX driver, but I can’t say for sure which version I was running before installing 17.5.1.

Can anyone else test this on the same hardware? Is this something you can fix with the mX driver?

    • I’ve updated windows to build 1703, the “creators update” and it seems to have resolved my issue with hardware acceleration and chrome / YouTube.
