mXDriver 17.6.1

mXDriver 17.6.1 is based on AMD’s Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.6.1 and brings the usual optimizations from AMD (newly supported games and bugfixes) as well as improved support for Prey® and DiRT 4™. Vulkan support is also included and gives Doom a big fps boost. Please note: Newer versions of the Vulkan API (1.0.26+) don’t work with the Vulkan Stardust Demo although other applications like Doom work great in Vulkan mode.

If you have trouble running a Vulkan application, which ran with mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded (Vulkan API 1.0.21) or other older drivers please see the FAQ for help. Read more mXDriver 17.6.1

mXDriver 16.11.1 based on Crimson 16.11.1 for Windows 8.1 and 10

mXDriver 16.11.1 is based on AMD’s Radeon Crimson 16.11.1  and brings support for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. It also has bugfixes so I recommend you upgrade. On my dual D700’s it’s working flawlessly. Vulkan support is also included and gives Doom a big fps boost. Please note: Newer versions of the Vulkan API (1.0.26+) don’t work with the Vulkan Stardust Demo although other applications like Doom work great in Vulkan mode.

If you have troubles running a Vulkan application, which ran with mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded (Vulkan API 1.0.21), than it should be sufficient if you replace amdvlk64.dll in C:\Windows\System32 with an older version. mXDriver 16.11.1 comes with version 1.0.26 of amdvlk64.dll, to get version 1.0.21 of amdvlk64.dll you can just use the file from mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded. The file is located in the ZIP-Archive under Packages/Drivers/Display/WT6A_INF/B******/ (the * are placeholders for a sequence numbers which change with every release). If this advice does not help you please let me know in the comments section.

This version of mXDriver also re-introduces Windows 8.1 (64-Bit) support as it was requested by the community. I don’t have a system to test the Windows 8.1 mXDriver so please give feedback! This release also has support for AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 6970M, please support any problems.

For a more detailed look into the changes of 16.11.1 please see the changelog.

16.10.2 with Battlefield 1 and Vulkan support

mXDriver 16.10.2 is based on AMD’s Radeon Crimson 16.10.2 for Windows 10 (64 Bit) and brings support for Battlefield 1, Civilization VI and several other games. It also brings some bugfixes so I recommend you upgrade. On my dual D700’s it’s working flawlessly. Vulkan support is also included and runs perfectly with Doom. In a non-crossfire configuration I get approx. 30 fps more with Vulkan than with OpenGL 4.5, that’s impressive! What I recognized is that newer versions of the Vulkan API (1.0.26+) don’t work with the Vulkan Stardust Demo although other applications like Doom work great in Vulkan mode.

If you have troubles running a Vulkan application, which ran with mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded (Vulkan API 1.0.21), than it should be sufficient if you replace amdvlk64.dll in C:\Windows\System32 with an older version. mXDriver 16.10.2 comes with version 1.0.26 of amdvlk64.dll, to get version 1.0.21 of amdvlk64.dll you can just use the file from mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded. Vulkan support and no Testsigning Mode anymore – mXDriver 16.9.2!

After a lot of work and testing I managed to get Vulkan working which was already experimental in mXDriver 16.9.1. As more and more users were requesting that mXDriver works without Testsigning Mode enabled because some games use Battleye anti-cheat software which does not allow games to run in Testsigning Mode I looked deeper into this matter. mXDriver 16.9.2, which is based on AMD’s Radeon Crimson 16.9.2, comes with a public Code Signing Certificate which allows, after installation of this certificate, to install mXDriver without being in Testsigning Mode (for details please see the attached README.TXT).

mXDriver 16.9.2 driver mod supports all current AMD based Mac GPUs (including M390, M390X, M395 and M395X GPUs) in one easy to install driver package! To see all supported GPUs please see below.

Changelog

  • updated mXDriver to Radeon Crimson 16.9.2
  • Vulkan support
  • public Code Signing Certificate attached –> no Testsigning Mode needed anymore
  • performance boost of approx. 35 % with dual D700 in Unigine Valley (Extreme HD) compared to AMDs latest official Boot Camp driver
