mXDriver 17.4.4

mXDriver 17.4.4 is based on AMD’s Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.4.4 and brings the usual optimizations from AMD (newly supported games and bugfixes) as well as support for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III™. Vulkan support is also included and gives Doom a big fps boost. Please note: Newer versions of the Vulkan API (1.0.26+) don’t work with the Vulkan Stardust Demo although other applications like Doom work great in Vulkan mode.

If you have troubles running a Vulkan application, which ran with mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded (Vulkan API 1.0.21), than it should be sufficient if you replace amdvlk64.dll in C:\Windows\System32 with an older version. mXDriver 17.4.4 comes with a newer version of amdvlk64.dll, to get version 1.0.21 of amdvlk64.dll you can just use the file from mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded. The file is located in the ZIP-Archive under Packages/Drivers/Display/WT6A_INF/B******/ (the * are placeholders for a sequence numbers which change with every release). mXDriver supports AMD Graphics powered Mac Pros (2013+), Retina iMacs and MacBook Pros (2015+). To see all supported GPUs please see listing below.

mXDriver also supports all the GPUs which the original Radeon Crimson 16.5.1 supports out of the box. So beside your Apple specific AMD GPUs the driver is also suitable for newer AMD PC GPUs.

mXDriver 16.4.2 Release

AMD released Radeon Crimson 16.4.2 Monday night. So I hurried to present you the most current driver mod for the Radeon Crimson 16.4.2 driver, mXDriver 16.4.2.
Highlights are new/updated Crossfire Profiles for Elite Dangerous and Need for Speed, fixes for The Division and GPU clocks and more. For a detailed changelog please see AMDs website.

Unleash your Mac… in Boot Camp!

As a Mac user I use OS X 95 % of the time. But what about the rest? Well the other 5 % of the time I use mostly Windows, mainly for gaming. Regarding computer gaming Windows is still the No. 1 operating system out there, OS X and Linux couldn’t change that!

So sometimes I boot my Mac into Windows using Boot Camp. What really annoys me for quite some time is the drivers Apple delivers with Boot Camp are outdated. Especially the graphics drivers for my Macs AMD powered graphics card are nearly a year old – a very long time in computer graphics.
