Vulkan support and no Testsigning Mode anymore – mXDriver 16.9.2!

After a lot of work and testing I managed to get Vulkan working which was already experimental in mXDriver 16.9.1. As more and more users were requesting that mXDriver works without Testsigning Mode enabled because some games use Battleye anti-cheat software which does not allow games to run in Testsigning Mode I looked deeper into this matter. mXDriver 16.9.2, which is based on AMD’s Radeon Crimson 16.9.2, comes with a public Code Signing Certificate which allows, after installation of this certificate, to install mXDriver without being in Testsigning Mode (for details please see the attached README.TXT).

mXDriver 16.9.2 driver mod supports all current AMD based Mac GPUs (including M390, M390X, M395 and M395X GPUs) in one easy to install driver package! To see all supported GPUs please see below.

Changelog

  • updated mXDriver to Radeon Crimson 16.9.2
  • Vulkan support
  • public Code Signing Certificate attached –> no Testsigning Mode needed anymore
  • performance boost of approx. 35 % with dual D700 in Unigine Valley (Extreme HD) compared to AMDs latest official Boot Camp driver

  1. Awesome work Joe, thank you! Works perfectly with my late 2015 iMac and the AMD M395X GPU. Also nice not to require test signing mode anymore. Very happy camper here, thanks again!

    • Hi Stas,

I am sorry it is not working for you. Thanks for the screenshot that gives me more information. I’ll have a look at it and hopefully can identify your problem.

      • I cannot reproduce the problem. But it seems like 16.9.2 is a bit buggy maybe 16.10.1 without Vulkan support works better.

  2. Installed smoothly, works great! Thanks for all your hard work 🙂 Thank God for people like you willing to put in their time and skills for something AMD/Apple will not do.

  3. Great to see you’ve got Vulkan support working Joe, it will benefit the whole community for sure 🙂

  4. Hi, I followed the instructions in the “README.TXT” found inside the zip file supplied. Doom 4 gets an error when the API is changed to Vulkan. The game is required to restart, as soon as the game shuts down, the error message is populated.

The update before, 16.9.1 worked great with the exception of advanced settings menu (which was not a big deal). Vulkan was working flawlessly.

I am not sure if this is an issue from AMD, but I thought I would let you know.

Thank you for all your hard work, I know this must be very difficult to get to work across so many platforms, but thank you, thank you, thank you!

    • Hi Edwin,

16.9.2 had it’s flaws, mXDriver 16.10.1 seems to work better at least on my machine. Regarding Vulkan support I cannot currently test as I don’t have any Vulkan games. Do you know a free Vulkan benchmark or something like that?

      • Hi Joe,

Again, thank you so much for the hard work! I can try 16.10.1 today or tomorrow. I have Doom4 to test it with. Will post reply when I do. Thanks!

          • Hi Joe,

I replied to the main topic for 16.10.1 about the Vulkan, Doom does not work. More info in other thread. Thanks!

          • Hi Edwin, now I have found a Vulkan Demo to test Vulkan support. Your’re absolutely right, Vulkan isn’t working with 16.10.1 and 16.9.2. I currently don’t know why but I have re-released mXDriver 16.9.1 which has Vulkan support and is signed now. Release is called mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded and seems to work fine.

  5. Oh man Joe!
I will install this on my late 2015 iMac M395X and would clearly buy you a drink. Thank you so much for working on this.

    Cheers mate

  6. Hi, thx joe for all your work! I’ve tested several drivers in the past (testsigning) and the 16.9.2 with the new installation method on a D500. Installation works well, no problems. But, with any driver from you, the windows system doesn’t properly shut down or does a restart without a error. It ends with a red light on bottom of the nMP and on power up OS X shows a message, that the system was not shutdown properly. With the latest official bootcamp shutdown is fine.

In the Windows logfiles I’ve found:

    • Hi Max,

I had the same issues int the past although I am not sure if it’s because of mXDriver. But since the big Windows Update in August (and newer releases of mXDriver) this problem is gone.
Do you already have the latest Windows 10?

  7. Hi,

Can you help me é have Imac 5K Late 2015 with Amd R390.

I install your driver but i get this on device manager:

    Device PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6819&SUBSYS_014E106B&REV_00\4&f470f2a&0&0008 requires further installation.

    Regards,

    • Hi Hugo,

it’s a pitty you have this problem. I once had error 43 but get rid of it with a clean install of the newest edition of mXDriver.
The device ID you wrote down isn’t included in the driver which is strange cause it should be included. Did you try your luck with mXDriver 16.10.1? How did that went?

      • Hi joe,

I try mXDriver 16.10.1 without Vulkan and the same error 43.

Can you remote to my pc to check if you see the problem?

Sent private email if you do this i will donate same $

        Best Regards,

        • Hi Hugo,

16.10.1 has no working Vulkan support currently 16.9.1 Reloaded seems to be the best bet for a lot of people.
          Try following:
          1. Uninstall AMD Radeon software via Windows Program Manager
          2. Reboot
          3. Use current version of DDU to get rid of Radeon related stuff which was not uninstalled yet.
          4. Reboot
          5. Download mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded
          6. Install attached certificate according to the HowTo
          6. Install mXDriver 16.9.1 Reloaded

          Hope this helps.
